Hello LA Times editorial board. Any amendment that increases water exports from the Delta helps YOU! As in the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California. Last time I checked, they (MWD of SoCal) held the same level of CVP water rights as the farmers you criticize. I especially love how you claim the farmers "...are located in a naturally arid landscape that's unsuited to agriculture...", but a megalopolis urban landscape in a desert with less rainfall than what those nasty farmers receive is ok? You continue on with comments about "%u2026runoff from the area contains heavy selenium deposits, which turned a local reservoir into a toxic waste dump." However, the toxic pollutants from the 17 million people in your readership are ok when it destroys sea life and makes your beaches public health hazards?
It's ok if you don't like the amendment, but please report the news in an honest and open fashion, particuarly when you're going to fail to mention the exact same damage your local reads have caused.
