Manipulating Polls Feb 20, 2010
2/19/2010 1:22:06 PM
What an interesting, if misleading article. The poll was conducted by the opponents of the ballot measure and supposedly read the ballot title and statement to people and then asked them some kind of question to see how they would vote. Possibly a lop-sided poll?? One would think that they might ask the question in such a way as to create the desired outcome. But more important, is that 99.9% of the people polled have little to no idea of what's at stake, let alone what this ballot measure would do to them or for them. The Chronicle should be ashamed at this kind of "journalism" - there is just too much at stake for California, to sensationalize mis-guided polls of people with no knowledge of what they are being asked. Rather, the Chron should do a series of articles on the ballot measure, the pros and the cons, and try to educate the electorate before we are hit the the onslaught of TV and radio ads that no one can decipher or understand, followed by a serious vote.
